Policy on Substance Misuse

  1. Withington Child Contact Centre believes that no one under the influence of drugs or alcohol should be allowed inside the centre.

  2. Drugs are defined as any substance taken for its narcotic or stimulant effect and includes, but is not limited to, alcohol, cannabis, ecstasy, cocaine and related opiates, amphetamines and mephadrone.

  3. Anyone suspected to be under the influence of drugs, including volunteers, may be refused entry or be asked to leave.  Failure to comply with this request may result in the police being called.  Abusive or aggressive behaviour towards volunteers or other centre users will not be tolerated and may result in contact being suspended.

  4. Historic or current drug use does not automatically preclude someone from using the centre, as each case is considered on its own merits.  However no one under the influence of drugs will be allowed in the centre.

  5. This policy is reviewed annually and was last reviewed in March 2024.
