Getting the other party to agree contact

Unfortunately Withington Contact Centre cannot try to persuade or convince anyone to start contact.  We also cannot speak on someone else's behalf.

That means that If you want to use our centre for contact, you need to find out if the other party is agreeable to contact taking place at our centre.

Very often parties are not on speaking terms, so getting this agreement is not straightforward.  In this case there are some options:

  • Ask a mutual friend or family member to ask on your behalf

  • Approach a Mediator: we've listed a few here but there are many others

  • Approach a Family Law Solicitor: we've listed a few here but there are many others

  • Approach the CAFCASS "Parenting Plan and Family Meeting" programme.  More information is available in the download below.  In brief, professionals from CAFCASS will support both parties to make lasting arrangements regarding the children, which can include contact.
